ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEWS

Much of the history that we store in our heads is lost as we age or pass away. Oral history is the practice of recording people’s recollections and personal stories for the future.

Oral History Collection

Peter Savage was a policeman turned hockey photographer and journalist. He died in 2017. Peter tells of his early playing career and how his passion for hockey manifested itself in broadcast and written journalism and in sports photography. Peter explores the technical and logistical challenges of his hobby turned profession before discussing his personal battle with terminal cancer. He has covered four hockey World Cups, several European Championships and Champions Trophies and, of course, the London 2012 Olympic Games.
