RICH BEER
Rich Beer is the England Hockey representative on The Hockey Museum's Board.
Rich is entwined with hockey, embracing the sport both as a player and through various club roles. His early experiences gave him a long-standing connection to the hockey community.
After university, Rich began his professional involvement by joining England Hockey, initially in an administrative capacity. He left for a period to work with the Oxford Sports Partnership, and then spent several years as the Team Manager for the Women’s International Team for both England and Great Britain Hockey. He also worked in a role at Sport England as a Relationship Manager before returning to England Hockey and becoming Sport & Development Director.
In his capacity as Sport & Development Director, he led major initiatives including:
The Big Stadium Hockey Concept
The successful bid to host the EuroHockey Championships 2027
A facilities-loan scheme aimed at improving hockey infrastructure
Membership model changes to modernise how clubs and participants engage with the sport.
Rich became Chief Executive Officer of England Hockey and Chief Operating Officer of Great Britain Hockey in September 2025, where his vision is to work collaboratively with partners and the wider hockey community to broaden the sport’s appeal, increase participation, and modernise governance.
