Irene shares the voluntary role of Volunteer Co-ordinator with Suja Subramanian. Working with the Museum’s staff, together they manage volunteer relationships, seeking to ensure that all volunteers feel settled and happy in their roles. Irene and Suja are responsible for volunteering administration and internal communications; they are the first points of contact for aspiring volunteers, managing advertisements and screening applications. They also lead on arranging social activities for The Hockey Museum’s volunteer community.

Irene enjoys organisational tasks and making a contribution to her community. She didn’t have any experience of hockey prior to joining the Museum other than learning the basics at secondary school. However, she has always been interested in history, especially social history, and she enjoys finding out information that brings past lives into focus.
