In recent weeks THM has acquired the archive of Lloyds Bank Hockey Club. The collection covers 102 years of sporting history, 1922-2024. It comprises administrative paperwork including the club’s first minute book from 1922, several trophies and presentations, and a large collection of mounted photographic prints.
The archive was deposited with us following stellar preparatory work by Lloyds Bank HC archivist David Reardon, who ordered, documented and, incredibly, even digitised (to our specifications) the entire archive prior to delivering it to Woking! Lloyds’s members have even initiated a fundraising initiative to support the archive’s ongoing preservation! This collective effort really is the gold standard for how we’d love to take new collections into THM, above and beyond the norm – it leaves us with very little to do, so a huge thank you to David! However, we also recognise that not everybody will have the time or motivation to be as thorough.
Depositing your heritage with THM
If you are considering gifting heritage material to THM, please reach out to us first. Our staff team would be very happy to discuss items with you and come to understand what you have to offer. Looking after and expanding our collections whilst maintaining the high standards of a professional museum requires considerable time, space and cost. That is not to say that we don’t want your material – far from it! – but we’d definitely appreciate your support to make informed decisions early on in the donation process.
