ELEANOR THOMAS
Eleanor has worked at Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum since 2020, specialising in the collections management and care of the museum, photographic and library collections. Her research often focuses on contemporary collecting and the use of this method to capture current sporting events. Eleanor has spoken on this topic at a range of conferences and events as well as leading on Championships Collecting at Wimbledon. Other work currently focuses on a new Digital Strategy for the museum as well as Emergency and Disaster Planning. Holding a BA in History of Art from the University of York and an MA in Art Gallery and Museum Studies from the University of Manchester, Eleanor has worked in the heritage sector in institutions across York, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Eleanor previously played for Putney Netball Club and was an active member on their Committee. Eleanor is now working towards her netball umpire qualifications in order to give back to the sport she has gained greatly from. Both professionally and personally Eleanor has a passion for sports, preserving sporting heritage and advocating for its wider access and use. She is therefore thrilled to join the board of The Hockey Museum and looks forward to the future ahead.
